I find it disheartening that Black Trans users on here have been reminding ppl their analysis of gender can't be separate from race and I get hounded for daring to show off a Black Trans Flag

but white users are able to say this with no blow back as if its a novel idea

this is rinse repeat

@CaribenxMarciaX When I say stuff like this I try my best to remember and specifically say “this is something black and brown folks have _been_ saying”

Meta, race & gender

@wmd oh plenty of ppl did, railed against me and were incredibly antiblack in the process for days

the white ppl that started the fire then blocked me instead of ever apologizing to me

and as many ppl have done before, they apologized to their mutuals and followers, intead of me

I remember some time ago having this conversation with some black trans folks when I tried to get a deeper perspective on the intersection of racial and trans discrimination and since then I can’t wrap my head around the fact that there are queer people actually disbelieving this.

I don’t mean those actively disbelieving it, fuck those, but just casually ignoring it even when they are told.

I mean, while (probably not derived from one another) black feminism seems to me as the most direct path to understand intersectionality, class and parts of queer theory. Things many white queers do discuss over and over while missing the point in their actions.

@CaribenxMarciaX Report them to the admin. There should be absolutely 0 tolerance of racism anywhere.

@TransVegan

I know you mean well with this, but the OP has been on here a long time and has had a lot of experience with the report button.

Each instance has their own admin team and often volunteer moderators. A lot of mod teams are white people who have failed to recognise racism or not seen it as a problem or sometimes actively participated in it. Some teams are good but not all.

@CaribenxMarciaX it's very true. I'm an admin on the LGBTQ+ in Tech Slack and the white folks still act like racism is largely in we people of color's imaginations. Even the wellest meaning and most accomplice-like white admins. We asked the ones who were tired of trying and getting hostile about it to step down. But it's still a huge elephant in the room.
