Hello 👋 I'm Hane. From a 1st-person perspective, I'm "das Bewußtsein in dem ich meiner bewußt bin". Otherwise, I'm a philosopher and a postdoctoral fellow working at the intersection of philosophy and mental health. I also have a clinical background in psychiatry and work part-time at a clinic that provides affirmative care for people undergoing gender transition. I'll mostly use this site to discuss my research, share sweet stories about my kids, and post obscure philosophy jokes. #introduction
discussing the temporal paradox with our eldest kid
ME: "if you went back in time and killed me, then you wouldn't have been born, and so you couldn't have gone back in time to kill me"
OUR KID: "but ... why can't I just kill you now? ... without all the time travel?"
and they say Freud has been discredited ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I'm reminded of the the time when someone at a party found out I was a philosopher. he approached me saying he wanted to ask me a very important philosophical question. I told him to go ahead. he said "there's a girl from my college at this party. should I tell her I like her?"
I answered by quoting Kierkegaard's Either/Or: "do it or do not do it—you will regret both"
Eurovision
Lithuania 2006 was my favourite Eurovision entry ever. I like the analyticity of "vote for the winners". The hard bop violin solo + avant-garde dance combination at 1:37 is also sublime.

Tim Thornton is a legend in the field and was doing philosophy of psychiatry before it was cool
