Morning all!

The TEL department here in Cork is holding a seminar called 'Digital Connectedness and Regional Growth' on 25th of May at 2pm (GMT), which you can attend in-person or online.

For more details and to register, go to tel.cit.ie/growingdigital

Good morning colleagues - I have been asked to do a short presentation on "thought leadership in education" including a better term for it!

Can I ask what colleagues think of the term - and what would be better?

Is there a term for when some keeps messaging you on linked in using predictive text….

Specifically, @DonnaLanclos and I ranted about librarians selling their ethics for a mess of pottage known as the "Library Value Agenda."

Been waiting to cut loose about that for four years or so.

So there's been a lot going on in general pedagogy and Technology over the last two years - does anyone have specific changes around biosciences and geosciences they can tell me about?

Very much excited to be talking to Wonk HE about all things tech on their Higher Education Podcast this week @dkernohan wonkhe.com/podcast/

Woke up to the news from the US - next level Handmaids tale going on :-(

Brilliant day out visiting the Daniel Lismore exhibition today…

It's just —

What I want to see is the end of folks having one and only one place to socialize online. And I don't mean the "country AND western" options of Twitter / FB / IG.

The Fediverse gives us hole-in-the-wall coffee shops, dusty bookstores, a friendly neighbor's lawn, etc

And of course a shout out for JIm Groom (I can't find him here!!!) and Reclaim Hosting reclaimhosting.com/

Superb post from the Kaiju that is @scalzi (and thankful to find him here!!!) - if nothing else it is a reminder that a "Domain of one's Own" is a key digital capability/literacy

"To help some of the newcomers make connections: name 5-7 things that interest you but aren't in your profile, as tags so they are searchable. Then boost this post or repeat its instructions so others know to do the same."

The trouble is most of my interests aren't easily hashtagged, or they're pretty unique around these parts. But I'll try anyway:

One of the strengths of Twitter for me was TweetChats - do we think that for example will happen here?
