This Hans Jonas book ("The Phenomenon of Life: Towards a Philosophical Biology") is rocking my socks off, tho I'm not entirely sure how to parse some of this.

@atavarez One of the best big-picture works on human research ethics is by Hans Jonas

He's awesome

@bgcarlisle
Which one is that? And this book in particular fits my entire project of rethinking Hegelian dialectics for this post-Heideggerian century of skepticism regarding identity, binaries, essences, etc. Also does wonders paired with Bataille as a way to rethink universalism. I feel like phil of bio authors have often been underutilized in metaphysics, rather treated always in reference to science and it's possible methodological grounds.

@atavarez "Philosophical Reflections on Experimenting with Human Subjects," Daedalus 98(2): 219-247, 1969 is the one I had in mind
