Survey about Neurodiversity and Online Communities :BoostOkay:

This survey is for anyone with neurodevelopmental disabilities like ADHD, intellectual disabilities or mental health conditions like schizophrenia, ASPD, BPD, OCD, etc. If you are unsure whether you are neurodivergent but fall in one of these categories, feel free to take it

Survey about Neurodiversity and Online Communities :BoostOkay:

The survey is mostly open-ended questions and should take about 15 minutes on average to complete

An analysis of survey responses will be shared here and made publicly available once it is complete

Survey about Neurodiversity and Online Communities

This survey i made is still open and now we have groups for these things, so hi! The post this is a reply to has a link to a survey about neurodiversity and online communities that you should feel free to fill out if you think that might apply to you regardless of whether you have an "official" diagnosis

@neurodivergence @actuallyautistic

Survey about Neurodiversity and Online Communities :BoostOkay:

I will be analyzing the responses soon and will probably shut down the survey once I get into that, so if you've been meaning to take it, you probably want to do that soon!

I really appreciate everyone who's responded so far. I've read through some of them and y'all have shared some really cool thoughts and experiences

@autistic_anthropologist Took it, you can problably figure out which response is mine lol

@dirething haha yeah I'm realizing that might be the case with some people from here

I will try to be as objective as possible though. not that objectivity is a real thing lol

@autistic_anthropologist so true so true

Looking forward to whatever conclusions you end up drawing from this. Do you when's about that will be?

@dirething My honors thesis presentation at my university will be at the end of April. Hopefully I'll be able to put out a publicly available report on here by then, but if not because of time constraints i will definitely start working on it afterwards!

so hopefully by like April or May of 2021

@dirething I want to make sure that what i publish here is easy to read and accessible, which is unfortunately not what the university will want from me

So I want to put in the time to make a good plain language version

@autistic_anthropologist Yeah, a plain language one would be nice! I like reading good and proper papers, but I do skip over a lot of words that seem excessive lol

Survey about Neurodiversity and Online Communities :BoostOkay:

@autistic_anthropologist Done! Thanks! Best of luck with this!

Survey about Neurodiversity and Online Communities :BoostOkay:

@marcjones thank you!

Survey about Neurodiversity and Online Communities :BoostOkay:

@autistic_anthropologist More than welcome. I actually have a project underway about ADHD and language teachers.

Survey about Neurodiversity and Online Communities :BoostOkay:

@marcjones oh that sounds interesting! I'd love to hear about it

Survey about Neurodiversity and Online Communities :BoostOkay:

@autistic_anthropologist Will send the finished draft. Just waiting on proposal review. :/

Survey about Neurodiversity and Online Communities :BoostOkay:

@marcjones yeah all the pre-approval stuff is the hardest part huh

Survey about Neurodiversity and Online Communities :BoostOkay:

@autistic_anthropologist absolutely. It's a duoethnography and my coauthor has been feeling somewhat overwhelmed by his ADHD recently.

Survey about Neurodiversity and Online Communities :BoostOkay:

@marcjones ah yeah executive dysfunction has been making things hard for me

Survey about Neurodiversity and Online Communities :BoostOkay:

@autistic_anthropologist thanks for doing this. i enjoyed participating in the survey and appreciate that i was given the narrative space to explain things.

Survey about Neurodiversity and Online Communities :BoostOkay:

@June you're welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed participating

I wanted to make it as open-ended as possible because I know how frustrating it is when you can't answer a question the way that you want to

Survey about Neurodiversity and Online Communities :BoostOkay:

@autistic_anthropologist can you explain what an online community is, to you?

Survey about Neurodiversity and Online Communities :BoostOkay:

@communeva sure! I use the term broadly just to mean any interaction that happens over the internet in any way where groups of people can interact

So this can include stuff like online roleplaying games, social media such as here, blogs, message boards, etc.

Survey about Neurodiversity and Online Communities :BoostOkay:

@communeva but I am also happy for people to interpret it however they want as there are certainly online communities that I haven't even thought about

Most of the words I use are simply because I have to communicate to people in some way what i am asking about, but I am really interested in what's important to them

And even if someone responds in a way I completely wasn't expecting i can learn a lot from that
