Thing that I recommend:
✨ Un-following ✨
Are their jokes just a little off?
Do they make you feel not good? In any way?
Are you angry, or does it trigger your "I need to argue with this person" reflex?
Then maybe:
✨ Un-following ✨
Is for you
@bgcarlisle huh.
maybe I should do that.
@bgcarlisle yeah people need to lose the idea that unfollowing/muting/blocking someone is some kind of punishment they're doling out. It's not about punishing people, it's about taking care of yourself.
@bgcarlisle this is the self-care tip we all need
@bgcarlisle feels good 😅
@unsuspicious You're free, friend!
@bgcarlisle I done unfollowed a couple accounts where I do like the person and I do like their views, but the rate at which they write and/or the tone made my timeline somewhat negative in general.
Also tangentially I find manually approving followers means you've a safe space to say stuff that's controversial, personal, silly, etc. without exposing you to total randos, if you post unlisted or followers-only. Esp. relevant here where most people don't know most their contacts IRL.
@bgcarlisle Is their entire instance like that?
ℹ️ Instances can be muted too, from the ⋮ menu on someone's profile
You can also do this for the "big" fedi accounts
If you don't see the latest toilet humour or whatever from them
Nothing bad happens
There will not be a test
You don't owe them your attention
