Remember when Github banned the accounts of everyone from a Designated US Enemy Country haha that was fun and the policy is still fully in place anyway time to make it into the hub for all programming activity

Anyway, I should just learn and accept that this is the way we do visual media now. I can't wait for the first movie to be shot in 9:21 format to arrive in cinemas

I just wrote an email to my MP and the leaders of a couple political parties, asking them to abolish targeted advertising by law

I have little hope that it will even reach the eyes of my MP, let alone be seriously considered or ever acted upon

But I felt like if I never even said anything to them, that would be bad too

Anyway, :NoAt: don't reply to tell me how this makes me complicit in blah blah your faux fatalism is exhausting

People who get upset about the use of the rhetorical "you"

That's a you-problem

I'm supposed to go to conferences, I guess, but I don't get to make these decisions

And I can't wait to have all the normal guilt of travelling, combined with the stress of going to the airport, and anxiety about something going wrong in transit and not being able to fulfill my responsibilities as the recipient of a bunch of money that I can't afford to pay back in the case that I do mess something up

My heart races in gleeful anticipation of going into debt to do this because my institution's policy is that I must give them an interest-free loan by paying for it up-front, in the hopes that I will somehow successfully navigate all their policies, and be paid back (average time to reimbursement, 8 months)

Why yes, I'd love to spend a week of my evenings preparing this abstract to submit to a conference, and then a month of evenings and weekends preparing this presentation, because there's no way that I can just squeeze this into my normal work hours without letting one of my regular responsibilities slide

And then I'd be thrilled to give a talk attended by three (3) people in a hotel room with absolutely no feedback
