Lunchbreak #teaching report~
Our university has a course (Special Seminar), where 1st year students propose 1-year research projects on anything of their interest, and get a faculty to supervise/help them.
I really love this course, it shows me the many different ways that students who just entered university understand Computer Science.
Also interacting with wide-eyed first year students fill me with energy.
Next post: The cool projects that students proposed to me so far.
@WiseWoman That is really interesting to know! I'm really curious about how a Master Degree works in EU/DE, since it is so different from the direction that we take it here in JP. It has been a point of friction when we tried to set up dual degree partnerships in the past 🤔
@caranha Bachelor's degrees are 6 or 7 semesters on the theory that high school is 13 years. Then that was changed to 12 years without changing bachelor's degrees... So many are missing math and communication skills... A master's is then 3 or 4 semesters. Both bachelor and master programs have a final thesis.
