I'm facilitating a track on open educational practices for a 2-day professional development workshop in North Carolina end of May. And it's taking me a *really* long time to prepare because I want to read all the literature beforehand and make sure we do a bunch of cool interactive stuff and I'm creating a small website for it on my domain... . I'll finish on time but wish I had another month!

I've been helping my library research #OER, and it's exciting to see how far we've come in a few months. 3 professors are looking to replace a first year textbook going up to over $100 next year with texts I found (woot! woot!) and we're having a meeting today of those interested in reviewing open resources this summer.

Great news on the Open Educational Resources front from Brazil. The Brazilian Ministry of Edu says that "any educational resources paid for by the Ministry, which is to be used for basic education (K-12) should be open educational resources..."
WiFi and email (and numerous other things) were unavailable at my uni all morning today. And it was refreshing because there wasn’t anything I *had* to do with those. So nice to not have email coming in for a few hours.
But if I were teaching or taking a summer course and couldn’t access the course website system I think I may have been more stressed if I didn’t know how long it would be down!
Do you have a project in mind for an open textbook or other open educational resources? The Rebus Community is inviting new projects for its beta rollout of its new platform for project organization, recruiting of collaborators, and more. Particularly looking for projects from outside of N. America and that include marginalized voices. I have a project w/Rebus and they're great!
