Pinned toot

My name is Clay! I'm a sophomore at Morehead State University in Kentucky. My major is geospatial science - basically, using satellites to observe the Earth!

My minor is global studies. I think the ability to understand data doesn't matter very much if one can't apply it to people in a respectful way, with their enthusiastic consent.

Other interests of mine include: amateur radio, watching trains, gardening, banjo-playing, and weaving!

captcha: "select all the photos with tractors"
me: *selects all the photos with tractors*
captcha: "you didn't select every image with tractors try again"
me: "captcha. that is a fucking combine harvester. you're shit." 😒

the big reason i jumped ship to mastodon is bc a reality show will be filmed next semester at my school's space science center (in which i basically live) and i do not want to be easy to find, but i still want to Be Myself on the internet.

I mean!

[img description: the distracted boyfriend meme, where the girl in the red dress is labeled “jokes about your assigned FBI agent watching you through your webcam;” the upset girlfriend is labeled “jokes about the network of Amazon and Facebook marketplace sales reps monitoring your likes, clicks, and searches to sell you more shit;” the distracted boyfriend is labeled “y’all”]

is there a equivalent of "lrt" for mastodon?

morehead hosted spacetrek this week, where they bring in teen girls from across the state to build and launch satellites, and on the last day (today) they have a party. party happens to be taking place right outside the misson ops center. i think they're jumping hard enough to disrupt the hydrogen maser 😅

I found a #knitting blog several years ago that I've since lost and been sad about that. It was by someone (female-presenting, I believe) who was knitting around-the-wrist swatches and wearing them for several days, to test blocking and wear and pilling and comfort.

If anyone can point me in the direction of it, I would be very grateful! I think of it often, and wish I'd bothered to bookmark it!

Looking for recs of folks to follow - I'm (broadly) interested in anthropology, geology, astronomy, engineering, and music! I also have more specific interests in Appalachia (culture and ecology), ham radio, fiber arts (spinning and weaving), theology, sustainable agriculture, and transportation!
