Was researching glass for my newsletter — newsletter.eleanorkonik.com/gl — & learned how little we know about sub-Saharan glass.

Scientists only recently confirmed that independent glassmaking occurred in Nigeria & Poland.

The main evidence they're using seems to be broken beads, crucibles, and cisterns for water.

I love it when I discover revolutionary new research like this.

If you know any other weird glass history, or of new research into obscure glassmaking traditions, please let me know.
