👋 I'm Gabriel, a philosophy PhD at U of Groningen & Avans UAS. I aim for a delicate blend of philosophy of science, insights from sociology & soc. psychology, and my own field research.

Current research: opinion formation of peer review panels, esp. 'accreditation panels' that assess (Dutch) higher ed programmes. Keywords: judgment aggregation, deliberation, social epistemology.

Other interests: biking, swimming, and lots of music.

This toilet is very sensitive, but keep pushing!
Also, throw all your products in the waste basket.

If you like jazz, do check out this great Spotify playlist based on Ted Gioia's excellent book 'The History of Jazz'. The playlist was compiled by nameless Barcelonan librarians, to whom I say: moltes grácies!

My favorite meme from today thus far, you ask? This one, made by Dan Galletti

Just found out that my new office offers splendid views of a group of newly arrived swifts, my favourite family of birds. Such a joy to watch their aerial acrobatics.

I have unleashed a peanut butter feud in my household. After marking my favourite kind as 'The TASTY peanut butter', my 8 y.o. has marked his fave as 'The SUPER TASTY peanut butter'.

Where will this end?! Except on our sandwiches of course. 🥜 😀

Learning to play the 🎺 has kinda sidetracked singing & playing guitar lately. But I managed a short post-dinner session just now, trying to ignore two raucous boys in the background 😅:

- Yebba, The Age of Worry (live cover)
- Bon Iver, 29 Strafford Apts
- Blur, Look Inside America
- Radiohead, Decks Dark
- Belle and Sebastian, Wrapped Up in Books
- Guided by Voices, Game of Pricks
- Big Thief, UFOF

Any suggestions for future sessions? 🙂

Returning to work after a week off, trying not to think too much about our house currently looking like a doll house due to renovations going on. 🏗️

There is nothing quite as good, scholar-wise, as finding the right foil for your work. DC Williams' 1951 "The Myth of Passage" is my lighthouse, by way of being the best and most perfectly written opposition.

Dear crowd, please help (& share): Does anyone have pdfs of

*the psychological works (esp. "first and second signal systems") of Ivan/Iwan Pavlov/Pawlow and/or his students*

in any Germanic or Romance language (e.g. in the Gesammelte Werke (Vols. 2 & 3 of 8)?

Among students:
- A. N. Leontiev/Leont'ev/Leontjew,
- M. M. Kolcova/Kol'cova,
- A. G. Ivanov-Smolenskij

Thanks!

, day 248/1824. (Repost) As my fieldwork starts in earnest come september, I soon need to submit my research plan to the ethics committee.
Problem is: my philosophy faculty has a (sizable) ethics *dept*, but no ethics *committee*. A blessing in disguise, because now a friendly sociology dept and professor are coming to the rescue. Extremely helpful - not only in designing the empirical study, but also to get the underlying philosophical ideas much more clear.
