I'm writing a blog post on how AI is becoming the new eugenics. This is not for anything official, just my own blog that isn't even public yet. Contact me if you want to share your experience. Otherwise please boost! I want to talk to as many people as possible. DM me if you have questions

Update: Kashmir Hill's piece in the NYTimes today describes a US startup that's providing law enforcement the exact kind of facial recognition tech I was warning about in China. China's present surveillance state is becoming our future. #privacy nytimes.com/2020/01/18/technol

This opt-in clause is the critical reform we need. As in California, tech companies will lobby to remove it.

#GMail is harmful to e-mail ecosystem; its antispam blocking policy matches too many valid messages as spam.

It blocked LastPass email leak warning email, because it contained "a link" to a leaked site.

It blocked an e-mail from goverment agency addressed directly to me.

It discriminates all non-gmail servers, and it's pretty much impossible to own a private SMTP server these days, because GMail will classify everything as spam.

It's not how e-mail should work.

Consider dropping GMail.

The longest mountain range on Earth is at the bottom of the ocean!

The Mid-Ocean Ridge lies on the floor of the Atlantic, and is the largest geological structure on the planet. It's caused by tectonic activity which is currently pushing the Americas away from Africa and Eurasia at a rate of around 2.5cm every year.

From the ocean floor, the ridge stands over 3km tall. In places, it rises above the surface of the water, forming islands, including Iceland.

Hi there,
Never been active and even less passionate user of SM but deeply (scientifically) interested in this kind of communication between people and the way that (de)forms the public sphere. Now I am at the beginning of a Ph.D. programme in the Media policy/European studies department in relations to freedom of expression online, media regulation, media literacy etc. Expect and will be glad to meet people with similar interests (not necessarily views) and topics of study here.
