@hendrikerz this bolsters my advice to all new grad students - get a hobby, just do something that has Nothing to do with academia, its good for you

@Cyborgneticz yes, absolutely. I always sought to do things that have nothing to do with academia, even if only to resume my research with a fresh mind. It prevents one from becoming a person with only insular knowledge.

@hendrikerz Also - from being the person who can only talk about their research and ends up being not that fun to be around.
Probably why the friends I have from grad school are like the ones who were phenomenal scholars and also love going to cryptid conventions.
