There is good reason to think that most natural remedies and alternative medicines are ineffective
It's not that no one ever looked at it or that there's a big conspiracy to prevent this from being studied

Physics/astro researchers giving talks to a general audience be like: "We would not exist if it were not for XYZ!"
XYZ is their *very important topic of research* (is VITOR a good memetic name?) that is currently popular: neutrinos, Higgs Boson, even black holes! :)
Instead, be modest and show how your topic fits into the larger picture, in conjunction with other things that make the universe work; a focused presentation doesn't entail hype!
