We've been in the process of helping our community migrate their citations to Zotero for the past few months. I'm glad that when we did our evaluation of potential tools, we did not go with Elsevier's offer for Mendeley https://library.stanford.edu/blogs/stanford-libraries-blog/2019/04/stanford-mendeley-institutional-subscription-will-be-cancelled
Zotero has been an asset working in scientific collaboration using Linux systems in an otherwise MS/windows monoculture. 👍 Still I wish there was an equally user friendly alternative allowing self hosting and federated collaboration to decrease dependency on central services
@jc I have migrated all my references (3500+) from Mendely to Zotero two months ago, and I more than happy with this move. I should have done it sooner! Without speaking about privacy, Zotero is much more versatile and efficient than Mendeley. And it deals pretty well with bibtex references.
