#distancelearning I had no idea that digital communication is not specifically covered by FERPA: "Because use of digital media for student communications and interactions isn't specifically covered by FERPA, instructors must be extra careful to ensure that they don't violate FERPA rules related to student records and privacy." https://er.educause.edu/articles/2014/2/is-your-use-of-social-media-ferpa-compliant #cnmtlol
#distancelearning Considering setting up a wiki for my online Stats students to use as a group collaborative study guide. While researching their educational use, I found this interesting: "Researchers have noted positive effects to integrating wikis in higher ed courses, but others have noted problems. While students enjoy the shared space and ease of use of wikis and frequently add and delete information, they are reluctant to edit each other's work." https://er.educause.edu/articles/2010/9/wikify-your-course-designing-and-implementing-a-wiki-for-your-learning-environment #cnmtlol
#distancelearning Take away for the week: " The number one mistake is to confuse a discussion question with an essay topic.
