Software industry fantasy
Imagine software developers having a union that ensures they don't move across the country and then get laid off on a whim or whatever nasty stuff we always hear about
And imagine they have a professional institution with an enforced code of ethics that prevents them from making registries of minorities or logging personal data or putting DRM in books or whatever
Like, imagine if that industry finally grew the fuck up
I will continue objecting to human space exploration until we stop being horny nerds with flavor dust all over our hands

Oh my goodness I've just learned a thing about The Matrix that causes it to make a lot more sense: In the original script the humans were used as neural network compute clusters by the Machines and as a crucial component of The Matrix itself.
Which is why humans who were aware of the simulation could control aspects of The Matrix - their minds were part of its foundation.
Unfortunately the test audiences had trouble understanding this concept so the studio changed the human role to "batteries".
#introduction Hi, I'm Sebastian from beautiful Hamburg, Germany. I'm working on this PhD thing in the field of communication networks as a computer scientist. I'm trying to learn about and advocate #openscience in all its colors. I'm also an engaged #slowfood activist, fighting for good, clean & fair food systems globally - because this planet and its people desperately need it, and you get to eat great food in the process. :)
