> Improving the trustworthiness, usefulness, and ethics of biomedical research through an innovative and comprehensive institutional initiative
I'm at @fosdem this weekend, currently in the session on Open Research Tools. Three great talks so far, all analyzing the same deficiencies: training of scientists, sustainability of software, best practices in development.
Interestingly, no one presented the obvious solution so far: Research Software Engineers! 😉
We should work on our outreach!
@msuhr talking about #FOSS and #PMPC in the health care system at @fosdem :
Great talk about Secure Health Data Infrastructures by @msuhr . Abstract and slides can be found under https://fosdem.org/2020/schedule/event/open_research_secure_health_data/
Arriving in Brussels today for FOSDEM. Slides for our prevision still need some polishing but I'm happy with the outline. Should be a nice introduction to FOSS in #medicalinformatics #healthinformatics
Contact me here if you want to meet up https://fosdem.org/2020/schedule/event/open_research_secure_health_data/ #FOSDEM

Another #workflow question for folks on the scholar.social instance... I write in #markdown and manage #citations in bibtex using bibdesk, but am thinking about moving to #zotero + zotfile + BBT (https://retorque.re/zotero-better-bibtex/) which can manage auto export of libraries to bibtex, I gather. Anyone else out there have comments re using Zotero for a bib(la)tex scholarly #writing workflow? It’s important to me that I have access to database in the form of bibtex files.
Man kann übrigens Mastodon-Konten auch via RSS-Feed folgen. Dafür muss einfach .rss an die Konto-URL angehängt werden. Für mein Konto also bspw. so:
Geht ebenfalls, wenn man nach einem Hashtag filtern möchte:
#introductions Hello. I'm a researcher/technologist with a focus on biomedical informatics. Main focus is creating novel software tools to help clinicians and researchers do their research. I also like trying out new software tech, with an interest in privacy focussed tools.
Outside academia most of my time is spent looking after my young son, but when I get a chance I also like listening to, playing and writing music.
Looking forward to contributing!
