Where I think Kelly's wrong is when he says ISS is "mostly free from politics and almost entirely free from the influences of our planet." It's necessarily neither, and that's good because it represents how politics and human cooperation on Earth could be. nytimes.com/2018/02/07/opinion

We often treat idea of "politics" in something as a problem, an interference, but politics is in everything. It's as inescapable as society and culture. The question to ask is: What kind of politics? How do they impact people, research, etc? How do we make them explicit?
