Hello world! I'm an assistant professor at #McGill who studies the #sociology of computer science education. I focus on gender issues in #compsci and policies in CS education that lead to gender inequality. #introductions
@patitsas Greetings! 👋
@patitsas Welcome, I'd love to hear more about what you're working on in the field. Are you combining research and instruction? Professor to me indicates instruction, but I could be wrong there.
@JigmeDatse Professors do many things --- research being our primary activity at research-intensive universities like mine. My research informs my teaching but it is a separate activity for me.
@patitsas That's what I thought based on what little I know about you, and honestly McGill. That's just how everything "felt" for me. I know some people just do research, at least in terms of day to day. Even strict researchers do some education connected to it.
@patitsas Hi and welcome! :)
I hope you'll like it here!
@patitsas Welcome! :)
@patitsas welcome, I just read your paper today!
@klausi Thanks! Which paper did you read? :D
@patitsas oh... The women in computer science one from 2014. Thought it was recent because it does not have a date in it 😆
@patitsas Hi welcome!
Great to have another person from McGill here :)
