Ruby griping

One of the coolest things about Ruby: you can open up all kinds of internal functions and monkey-patch them to your heart's content when things go weird.

One of the worst things about Ruby: an author of a third-party library you don't even know you depend on can open up and monkey-patch the `Array#dup` method – yes, the way that you make copies of an array – and you have no idea why you can suddenly no longer log into your web app anymore.

There went a half-day.
