I'm looking for that are good for studying/doing research to and for drowning out loud officemates. Please help! Alternatively, suggestions for noise-canceling earbuds?

@Prof_Birch If your math knowledge is very informal, I recommend "Bridge to Higher Mathematics" to start; I used it in college. Let me know if that's along the lines of what you're looking for!
