I want to thank @rusty and @zx for getting off to an - amazing - beginning.

I learned so much today - on two very different fields!

Tomorrow I'm presenting on neoliberalism (if you're wondering if Nazis come up, they do but for like twenty seconds).
The amazing @adugas will present later on red dwarfs.

Get ready cause I am a sucker for attention 😎

Hey everyone, I recently completed my bachelor's degree in computer science. I am currently working in industry, but I will be applying to PhD programs for next year. I am particularly interested in decentralized software, which is one of the reasons I got interested in Mastodon 😃 I am also a big fan of functional programming.

I have two other accounts: @Zambyte and one on an instance I run for my family.

If you couldn't come to my talk today & are interested in poetry, Korean history, & neocolonialism, here's the written version:

Hi if your name is Satsuma and you signed up as a participant for please DM me!

I will be speaking at the #SummerSchool! At 6:00 PM UTC on Monday the 27th, I'll be asking, "What's the deep lesson of quantum mechanics, and how would we know it if we saw it?" I will rush in where angels fear to tread and try to explain an ongoing research program to find out.

I am going to be talking at #SummerSchool (the thing I have been calling MastoConf) on 7 August at 4pm AEST (6am UTC).

You can sign up to get the Zoom link, plus check out all the other fabulous talks you can catch here:

(If you miss the cutoff I can still share the Zoom link with you later).

If anyone else want to double-check their UTC time/date conversions, I made a google calendar with all the events as a sanity check for myself:

I'll be giving a 15 minute talk explaining why patents don't work for complex inventions like software or whatever you're reading this on. There will be bonus slides about how Amazon et al use patents to avoid taxes.

7/28 @11pm UTC (so 7PM EDT, 4PM PDT).
It's part of the incredible #SummerSchool program put together by the Masto instance. Sign up here:

#SummerSchool work in progress

- i'll get to the horseshoe crabs later i promise, this is just a "generally accepted" version
- i know it's only supposed to bifurcate but
- there isn't enough room
- i don't know enough to evaluate the finer relationships

reminder that it's the last 12 or so hours to sign up for presentations! i'll be closing the form at midnight pacific time. theres no pressure to attend the talks you sign up for so if you're on the fence you should fill out the form anyway! :blobpats:

I'll be presenting at July 30, 5pm UTC.

'This research project primarily focuses on how to confront architectural and colonial symbols of the state’s power through Afro-Indigenous Puerto Rican spiritual markers and performance. Confronting sites and monuments directly related to Puerto Rico's early colonial history, the unseen qualities and histories are unearthed by the corporeal presence of the artist.'
