LB (DMCA vs. ad-blocking): That's seriously fucked up. They're claiming that software that stops you from having to see their ads is the same as software that gives access to unlicensed copyrighted content.

"Pursuant to § 1201(a)(3)(B), a technological measure “effectively controls access to a work” if, “in the ordinary course of its operation, it requires the application of information, or a process or a treatment, with the authority of the copyright owner, to gain access to the work.”"

This is also really obviously a test case; the site that filed the DMCA takedown notice is an anti-adblock startup, and you know they hired a lawyer specifically to pervert the DMCA this way.

@noelle There are legitimate arguments against adblocking (mainly that content creators deserve compensation for their work...), but this? This would get you kicked off the debate team.
