#introduction
Hi #scicomm fellows, just discovered this instance so I migrated here from nasqueron.

I'm a postdoc in #ComplexSystems, currently working in #ComputationalNeuroscience but in the process of reconversion towards #environmental issues.

Interested in #sustainability and #foss, #sf and #illustration, #japan and some more...

γ‚ˆγ‚γ—γγŠι‘˜γ„γ—γΎγ™!

@stman some of my classmates presented a project in class about an AI-assisted fighter jet squadron. Presumably because the US military cannot attract enough pilots anymore, they want a system where one pilot controls multiple planes in orchestration.

That sort of technology sounds like the perfect candidate to be combined with this brain-computer interface garbage.

@CaribenxMarciaX afaik, it was started after Facebook shutdown a bunch of anarchist groups (and accounts?). That was several months ago.

ELS2021 online is announced and the call for papers is out. Looking forward to it!! πŸ€©β€‹

Hi, everyone! I'm a PhD student in bioengineering, and I love designing and building hardware+software tools. For my thesis, I'm studying challenges and strategies for open-source medical devices for global health equity: how might platforms and communities be built to support cooperative production of medical devices appropriate for local contexts, all the way from invention to implementation?

preparing for this consultation in a thousand hours and realizing that one of the difficulties my committee is having with it literally comes from political science being so rigid with subfield boundaries that the idea of blurring them at all is incomprehensible

and this is why academia needs some shaking up

I'm a queer, disabled, white trash, catholic, cyclist, cajun academic.

I adore teaching. I'm doing a PhD in Political Science. I research neoliberalism and how it manifests itself as a political language in American politics. I also research care ethics as an alternative to neoliberalism.
I've done work on a lot of different subject and love to share my work and read others' work!

introduction

Hi everyone! :ThisIsFine:

I am a fourth-year PhD student in systems engineering. I love this engineering discipline and I want to apply it to systems that sustain life (livingry!).

My research is about developing the open tools and model-based architecture for a computing system that is trustworthy and serves the user.

Would love to meet others who recognize the social dangers of modern computing and want to discuss alternatives from first principles.

Peace! ✌️
