Tomorrow's course is accidentally spooky-season themed 🎃

It's actually just the reading for the course next week, but since that's a webzine showing the students the command line via incantations, I'm going full "computers are magic"

The zine is pretty cool and does a really good job playfully bringing people closer to the command line:

And since that Zine mostly relies on bash, I had to set up a server for the students running windows on their computers.

Which means I need to show them SSH and talk about astral projection.

@tobbsn damn, i introduced my students to ssh last week and i completely forgot about this blessed illustration

@tobbsn That's a bit sad to put magic/supernatural phenomenon on what is only science. Our times are already sceptical enough :flan_eyeroll:

@ledeuns this is a university course about digital capitalism and ideology critique 🙄

the magic thing is a funny bit to actually *disenchant* the students' machines by getting them to learn some command line basics. you know... a meme...

also *nothing* is ever "only science" - there are societal and economic interests, biases, values and imperatives embedded in the design of every technology. which is kinda the point of this whole course :blobwhee:
